Her career began as an infant actress on television making her debut feature film with Because of Winn-Dixie followed by the supporting role of Violet Beauregarde in Tim Burton's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. At the beginning of her career she appeared on television as a child actor and first appeared in the title role of Samantha. The American Girl's Holiday (2004). The role she played as Leslie Burke in Bridge to Terabithia (2007) garnered her recognition and praise and she was awarded two Young Artist Awards. Carrie Bradshaw's role as a character in The Carrie Diaries, a program on The CW from 2013-2014, made her more famous. She played Lacey the neighbor of Gypsy Blanchard in Hulu's miniseries The Act.
